The History Of Feng Shui And How It All
Began
A quick guide to feng shui history - Feng Shui is a philosophical concept that originated in China about 3000
years ago and the word itself literally translates into “wind and water”. Feng shui had a history of being used in
helping people determine the proper burial grounds for the dead as they wanted to show the greatest respect for
those that have passed away. Soon after that, people began to not only apply the practices of feng shui to decide
the proper burial site, but they also wanted to use feng shui in helping them determine the best location to build
their business, buildings, monuments, homes, and even cities. For a while feng shui was only dedicated to deciding
the best locations, but then it began to expand and people wanted to apply the practices of feng shui into their
homes and other interior spaces.
The practices of feng shui soon became very popular and mainstream in the eastern part of Asia. It wasn’t until
only recently that feng shui become more popular in western culture and people are taking it much more seriously.
Since that time, many entrepreneurs and businesses alike have applied the principals of feng shui into everything
that they do and build. A prime example of this would be the luxury car manufacturer, Jaguar. They have applied the
concept of feng shui when designing the body of the car for maximum light reflection.
The art of feng shui has now become highly popular and it now holds a strong place in modern home and building
design and many interior designers also study it to so that they can better understand how to cater to clients who
wants to feng shui their homes. Not only so, but applying feng shui to the home tends to be considered as an art
form and thus it many home owners apply this principal to their home in order to make it look much nicer.
